About Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme Meghalaya
As the name suggest this scheme is about to build a new breed of pig and as well as income generation opportunity to the state farmers. Meghalaya chief minister officially announced Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme on Wednesday 31st August 2022 in Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya. Chief minister informed that government is working on farmers prosperity and This Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme is the example of our working plan towards farmers of the state. Under the “Meghalaya Piggery Mission” we provide Zero Interest loans for fattening and pig breeding to the farmers.
Budget of Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme
To execute the scheme Successfully, we implement Phase manner budget to the scheme. In the first phase of budget we will spend 15.18 Crore by which farmers will get high yielding better kind of pigs. In the second phase we will spend 25 Crore for this scheme by which farmers are capable to generate more Income and bring prosperity in their family.

But we are telling you with sadness that several piglets are found to be die. Chief minister Conrad Sangma said this is a big tragedy happened today. And also said that this happens because of transportation. All piglets are coming through other states through a transportation of 3 days. This may be one of the reason for death of the piglets.
some of the farmer said that some of the piglets died very soon after ending the distribution of the piglets and other side some of the farmer said that within a week they found to be dead. Farmers observed that some of the piglets has disease of ulcer in their mouth where other said there will be high chances of swine flu.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that we understand the feelings of the farmers whose piglets are dead. That’s why we replaced them as soon as possible.
